HE LEADETH ME

One of the most comforting things I've ever read!
Jasper National Park, Alberta
(about 5 hours from me)
HE LEADETH ME

In pastures green? Not always; sometimes He
Who knoweth best, in kindness leadeth me
In many ways where shadows be,
Out of the sunshine into the darkest night,
I oft' would faint with sorrow and affright,
Only for this - I know He holds my hand;
So whether in the green or desert land
I trust, although I may not understand.

And by still waters? No, not always so;
Oft' times the heavy tempests round me blow,
And o'er my soul the waters and the billows go
But when the storms beat loudest and I cry,
Aloud for help, the Master standeth by
And whispers to my soul, "Lo it is I."
Above the tempest wild I hear Him say,
"Beyond the darkness lies a perfect day.
In every path of thine I lead the way."

So whether on the hilltops high and fair
I dwell, or in the sunless valley where
The shadows lie, - what matters?
He is there!
So where He leads me, I can safely go.
And in the blest hereafter I shall know
Why in His wisdom, He hath led me so."

mom, thats a cool poem. Thanks for sharing!

Hi
I 've not come around lately, glad to read your words and catch up.

I'm tagging you check out the tag at www.chronicchicktalk.com working to finish it now.

Thank you for this beautiful poem.

I visited your beautiful daughter's site and I enjoyed my time!

God bless you dear Sheila,
and God bless your beautiful family!

Brings to mind the "peace that passes understanding." Things don't even have to be OK for things to be OK.

Amen.
(but SO hard to remember, sometimes!)
Love the poem, Sheila! Now I have another reason to keep you in mind. (and I do, often.)

This poem, by the prolific writer ANONYMOUS, first appeared in A Hebrew anthology a collection of poems and dramas inspired by the Old Testament and post Biblical tradition gathered from writings of English poets, from the Elizabethan period and earlier to the present day. Edited by George Alexander Kohut (1874-1933). Cincinnati: S. Bacharach, 1913: pages 308-309. A reproduction of the book is available on Amazon; the original is at AbeBooks.
